I am showing a weird painting (as well as others, I believe) I have been grinding away on for the past month at this Beerfest at Hensley’s event. I am starting to get the fear a little as I still have a lot to do on it to finish, but having a “due date” is helpful, sometimes. I could easily stretch this out for another month or two, and with some cool work on the horizon finishing this beast is paramount. So come look at it on Sunday. Everything I know about this event I learned from the flyer posted above which I grabbed off the Burning Of Rome‘s myspace page. So the art show went better than I ever expected. Big thanks to everyone that showed up, bought a piece, or just said hi. A bunch sold, but there are still quite a few pieces that are still available. The show will be hanging for two weeks, after that I will update the site and my store with what is still available. In the meantime there are lots of new pictures in the art galleries, and I will be adding information to all the pieces in the galleries in the next couple of days.

Here is a little sneak peek of a couple of new things I will be showing at the my art show this Saturday. Be ready to enjoy yourself and those around you! We will be at the Chee Chee Club from 8pm-close. A good time is almost certain.

I did a take on a scene from the Labyrinth where the goblins are in Jennifer Connelly’s character’s closet waiting for her to say the precise words needed to damn her little brother into slavery or whatever other terrible fate the Goblin King has in store for him.

I always wanted to make a print of that image so when I had the opportunity to participate in the “These are the Quotes from Our Favorite 80s Movies” group print show, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to do just that. The opening reception for this show will be Friday May 15th in conjunction with Salt Lake City’s monthly “gallery stroll” from 6 – 9 pm. at Signed & Numbered Gallery in Salt Lake City. 30 artists were asked to create a print based on a quote from an 80′s movie. I call this print “She’s Going To Say The Words.”

This print I’m calling “Everyone’s Happy When the Wizard Walks By” will be showing at the “Lyrically Speaking” group print show that will run in conjunction with the 2009 Independent Record Store Day. Come out to the show’s opening reception on Saturday, April 18, 2009, 6 – 9 pm if you are close to one of the following locations.
-Signed & Numbered/Slowtrain Records in Salt Lake City
-Size Records in Oklahoma City
-52.5 Records in Charleston, SC.
All of the venues are small, independently owned stores and this is a chance to pick up some cool art, or at least check out the eye-candy while browsing for music. 38 artists were asked to create a print based on song lyrics. I went with Black Sabbath.
